05/The play log
Every pitch
Standings are computed from the final scores of regular-season games only. That filter is the whole point: every MLB fixture in this database carried no game type until it was backfilled, and 7,788 of them are spring training, which put the 2016 Cubs at 125-83 in a 162-game season before it was fixed. Spring training, exhibitions and the All-Star game are excluded everywhere in this section; the postseason is kept separate rather than folded in. Rate leaders carry a stated minimum, because one 1-for-1 pinch hitter would otherwise lead the league in average forever; counting leaders carry none. Earned run average and WHIP are ranked lowest first, which is the one place here where leading means smallest. Innings pitched is stored in thirds, so “6.1” is six innings and one out rather than six point one; every total on this page is summed as outs and converted once, because adding the text as decimals makes 6.1 plus 6.2 equal 12.3 where the truth is 13. The play log covers 2015–2026 only and is complete for those seasons.
