Every season the archive holds, 77 of them, with the champion taken from the position-1 row of the final loaded round of each championship. Drivers is the number who took part in at least one race that season, which is not the size of the grid: it counts substitutes and one-race entries too.

17 constructors have won the championship in the 68 finished seasons it has existed. The denominator is smaller than the drivers’ one by the 8 seasons before 1958.

The window is 1950 to 2026, 77 seasons and 1,161 rounds, complete for every season that has been run. 2026 is the one exception: the importer only ever writes a round that has already been run, so its 12 rounds are how far it has got rather than a finished calendar, its row is marked leading rather than champion, and it is excluded from both title counts above. The constructors’ championship was first awarded in 1958: 8 of the 77 seasons here predate it and say so in the row instead of leaving three cells blank, because there was no title to win and not a title whose winner is missing. Points are printed as the source holds them, fractions included, which is why some early totals carry a half: races stopped before distance paid half points and a shared car split them, 38 of the 26,048 entries in the archive, spread from 1952 to 2021. A championship position of 1 is the source’s own, not a re-ranking by points here, so the one season where those two disagree still reads correctly: Michael Schumacher finished 1997 second on the road with 78 points and was excluded from the championship, and his standings row carries no position at all. Nothing on this page reads the 142 rows in games carrying sport=f1; they are an earlier empty-shell import with no results behind them.
