03/About these numbers

Every figure on this page is tallied from the final scores of 2018 fixtures, split by season type before anything is added up. W, L, PCT, PF, PA, DIFF and the home and road records are regular season only; playoff results appear in their own column and in the postseason section, and are never folded into them. PCT is wins as a share of decisions, PF and PA are season totals over the GP beside them rather than per-game rates, and GB is half the sum of the win gap and the loss gap against the club named in the section head, which shows a dash against itself.

The stored wnba_standings table is not what is printed here, because it combines the two season types and counts fixtures that have not been played. 2024 New York reads 40-12 over 52 games there; its regular season was 32-9 over 41 fixtures and its postseason 8-3 over 11. In 2026, that table’s GP counts each club’s remaining fixtures and divides wins by them, which both understates every percentage and reorders the table.

1 fixture is on the 2018 schedule with no score on record, dated at or before the last result in the league, so it is a lost result rather than a fixture still to come. It is not counted in any W, L, PCT, PF or PA above, which is why the clubs involved show one fewer game played than their schedule length. A scoreless row is never read as a 0-0 result.

Known limits, stated rather than smoothed over. There are no conferences or divisions in this data: the columns exist and are empty on all 36 WNBA clubs and all 356 standings rows, so this page shows one league table. Order is record alone, the league’s tiebreakers are not modelled, and clubs level on percentage are separated here by point differential, so a club shown eighth may not be the club the league seeded eighth. Every club is scheduled the same 34 regular fixtures this season. Clubs are named as they are today, not as they were named that year, the 2002 Detroit Shock appear as the Dallas Wings. Early seasons are incomplete: 2002 has 12 clubs where the league had 16, because the missing franchises’ fixtures survive only in a scoreless second copy of the schedule that this section excludes. All-Star squads are excluded by team flag, not by season type, since the All-Star game is stored as a regular game.
