The line score is derived from the play log rather than read from a stored innings table, because the play log covers 2015 onward where that table starts in 2023. The two were compared on their overlap and agree on every inning-half except the ones the stored table marks unplayed, which is the case shown as X above: when the home club leads after the top of the last inning it does not bat, and printing a zero there would say it batted and failed to score. Games before 2015 have no play log and so no line score, only the final. Batting average in the hitting table is this game alone, not the season. Earned run average and WHIP in the pitching table are likewise this appearance, which is why a one-inning reliever who allowed a run reads 9.00. Innings come from the out count rather than the stored decimal: “6.1” means six innings and one out. No venue is shown because no MLB fixture in this database carries one.
